at French’s Farm. The location is the site of WalMart, while construction was in progress,
the graves were uncovered (in
1995). Brothers, Lifford & John
Hector French, denied knowing
the gravesite was there. The remains were relocated to Roselawn Cemetery in a mass grave.
The tombstones were later discovered in
a creek a few miles away, but were too broken up to
be repaired. *The contributor of this info, stated that her grandfather, Wm.
Tell Harrison, Jr. ,
was a friend of the French’s and owned
the first barbeque business(Circle Front Barbecue) in
North Alabama. The French’s were frequent customers and always knew the cemetery
was
there.
The contributor recalls being taken there as a small child, & vaguely recalls the burial
grounds and tombstones. {A Tombstone
marking the mass grave at Roselawn,
says 6 MALES,
8 FEMALES, 13 CHILDREN. [contributor of information Martha Royals
