There is a memorial erected outside the Sharp County Courthouse to honor veterans who lost their lives in combat. The names are listed in the same order as on the memorial. The monument reads:
"IN HONOR AND MEMORY
OF VETERANS OF ALL WARS
WITH A SPECIAL SALUTE
TO THOSE FROM SHARP COUNTY
WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES FOR OUR COUNTRY"
