I invite you to enter a query for your Sevier County ancestors but because of our limited space, please limit it to only Sevier County ancestors. If you are not sure what part of Arkansas your relative was born, died, or resided in, might I suggest checking the Arkansas Federal Census Index, ususally located at you local library or Historical Society or Genealogical Society, for the time frames before and after the one you think they would be in. Enter your query information exactly as you want it to appear including the name of the county in case of misdirection with one exception, please enter the surnames in capital letters. Also it would be helpful if in your subject box you type "Sevier Co., Ar." so that it is not overlooked or deleted by mistake. Every effort will be made to post your query as soon as possible.

ROSS
My great grandfather James Clinton Ross and my great grandmother Martha lived
in Red Colony in Sevier County, Arkansas in aroung 1910-until they passed away.
Do you have any information on them or any pictures that someone might have?
They are buried in the Old Union Cementary there in Locksburg, Arkansas?
YOUNG
I believe my Ancestor John Young died and was buried in Sevier County AR before
1900. The 1900 census lists his wife Rhode Young living with a daughter Nancy E.
McCracken in Indian Territory but in 1910 is back in AR living with son George
Napoleon Young and listed as widowed. They were originally from Catahoula
Parish, LA. My GG-Grandfather married in Sevier County in 1906, He was George
Napoleon Young m. Annie Lee Welch. So the family moved to Arkansas between 1880
and 1900. I'd like to find death records for John Young.
ALLEN
I am looking for information on Joseph Allen, born 4 Jun 1802 in Giles Co.,
Tennessee and died in Sevier Co., about 1875. He was married to Rhoda Aldridge
Allen who died about 1857 in Bossier Parish Louisiana. He might have remarried
sometime after 1860, but another wife was not listed in the 1860 U S Census.
I have just obtained information that his succession might appear in Probate
Book 14, Page 271 for Sevier, Arkansas. Any information on Joseph would greatly
be appreciated. Rhoda and Joseph had children, William, Mary Ann “Polly” Allen,
James, Elizabeth and Patience.
HIGGINS
Seeking information on what happened to Michael M Higgins, b. NC abt 1798,
later lived in Madison Co., AL, Gibson Co., TN and then moved to AR between 1845
and 1848. Listed in 1850 census in Yell Co. Brother, James O. Higgins and large
family lived in Sevier Co (at least from abt 1839). Michael M. and James O
Higgins had several brothers and sisters. A brother William Higgins was still
living in Madison Co., AL until at least abt 1839 (have to check my notes on
this to be sure). In the 1860 census, Michael M Higgins' children is listed with
the wife having a different last name (Edmonds). This seems to suggest that
Michael had died and his wife, Mary L. remarried but, I find a Michael M. and
William Higgins (brothers ) living in same household in 1860 census for
Butler Co., MO. Also, marriage records exists for both in Butler Co., MO.
Their ages in the Butler Co. census is about right to be the Michael M. Higgins
in the 1850 Yell Co. census. I'm hoping to find descendants of Michael' s
children that would have knowledge of this matter. Michael's children from 1850
census are: Maria D., James M.M., Mary E.,William V. Margaret Matthias H. and
Arkansas T. My interest in this is that one of Michael's sisters, Dorothy was
one of my ancestors. Thanks for any help you may be able to provide.
