I invite you to enter a query for your Sevier County ancestors but because of our limited space, please limit it to only Sevier County ancestors. If you are not sure what part of Arkansas your relative was born, died, or resided in, might I suggest checking the Arkansas Federal Census Index, ususally located at you local library or Historical Society or Genealogical Society, for the time frames before and after the one you think they would be in. Enter your query information exactly as you want it to appear including the name of the county in case of misdirection with one exception, please enter the surnames in capital letters. Also it would be helpful if in your subject box you type "Sevier Co., Ar." so that it is not overlooked or deleted by mistake. Every effort will be made to post your query as soon as possible. Once the queries have been archived for a year, I do not pull them back into my computer. So if you change your email address please send me a new query.

Jackson. They had 3 children : Bertina Jackson, Paulene
Jackson, and Alfred Neal Jackson. They lived in Gillam

Her mother took her to live with grandparents. Her mother
died when she was very young (probably 2yrs. old or younger),
and she was raised by her grandparents. I was told at
around 9 yrs.of age she went to work for a family and lived
with them. I was also told one of her parents were of Indian
descent. We are not sure what tribe, and have no other
information. I sure hope this is enough to find some
information about her. I would really appreciate anything
you can tell me. We lost my dad (Alfred Jackson) a year
ago in February, and just burried my aunt Paulene yesterday
in Healdon, Oklahoma. She was the las living child, and
all of us children would like to find out more about our

My great great grandfather, George B. Dyer, 1st Lt. killed
at Ft. Donelson, TN, born in Marion Co. AL and living in
Itawamba Co. MS when he enlisted. George was child #7 of 10
born to John A. Dyer and Leannah ?? *she was thought to be
1/2 Cherokee born in KY. They married around 1816 in TN or
KY. George's sister, (#9) was Narcissa Almita Dyer b: ca1836
AL or MS and married James Cowley on July 31, 1852 in
Itawamba Co. MS. They supposedly moved to Arkansas shortly
afterwards and settled in Sevier Co. They had 3 children:
Leannah Cowley, George Robert Cowley and James Franklin
Cowley, when or where born is unknown. I had located a
descendant of child #10, Andrew Dyer, who with his widowed
mother (Leannah ?? Dyer) came to live with the Cowley's in
the mid to late 1850's. I was told by child #10's descendant
that James Cowley served in the Confederate army and was
killed and his widow, Narcissa, lived the life of a pauper
until her death. Leannah ?? abt. 1860 and was buried in
Sevier Co. Andrew moved on into southern ILL and joined
up with the Union soldiers at a hot bed of contention
called Bunker Hill, ILL at the end of 1964.

Jetton, who lived in Sevier Co., AR in the mid 1800's. His
wife was Mary Ann White born in Feb. 2, 1837 in Sebastian Co.,
AR. James was born in 1835 in Tenn. They married July 25,
1855 in Sevier Co., AR. I have been told that James is buried
at Hickory Ridge Cem., Lavaca, Sebastian Co., AR
They had three Children. Sarah (Josephine) b. abt 1856 in
AR., Robert P. (Pinkney) b Jan 1859 in AR. and William Edward
(my grandfather) b. Dec. 25, 1860 in Sebastian Co., AR.
William Edward marrie Mary E. McClendon. James had two brothers
that served in the 2nd Arkansas mounted rifles during the

serving in the same unit. It stands to my reasoning that
the three brothers could have served in the same unit but
I have never seen my James with an initial.
