Wilbur Dwaine Jackson, aged 71, resident of Mt. Ida, died Monday, Nov. 30, 1998 at his home. Funeral services wiere held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2 in First Baptist Church of Dierks with Rev. Roy Brooks officiating. Burial followed in Dierks Cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home of De Queen. He was born Jan. 4, 1927 in Oklahoma; and was a member of Lake Ouachita Baptist Church of Mt. Ida. He is survived by one son, Anthony D. Jackson of Mt. Charlie Johnson, son of Jim Johnson of Chapel Hill, died Tuesday morning at his home a Wichita, Kansas, after a long illness. Mr. Johnson leaves a wife and two children besides his father and several brothers and sisters. Pneumonia Proves Fatal to Charles P. Johnson Charles P. Johnson, age 29, died at 9:45 o'clock Monday night at the St. Francis Hospital after an illness of three days with pneumonia. He was taken to the Hospital Sunday morning. Mr. Johnson's lungs were crushed in a train wreck at Wichita Falls, Texas two years ago, after which tuberculosis developed. He spent fourteen months in the State Tuberculosis Sanitarium at Norton, and later was a patient at the County Sanitarium southeast of the city for a short time. He had been at home, 1030 South Emporia, for the last two months. His lungs were improving, physicians said. Besides his widow, Mrs. Myrtle Johnson, a bookkeeper in the business office of the Beacon, Mr. Johnson is survived by two young sons, Howard and Charles P., Jr., his father, J.W. Johnson of De Queen, Ark., five sisters and fourbrothers. Funeral arrangements are awaiting word from the father. A.G. Mueller has charge.

JOHNSON, James H. - 60, of Roseburg, passed away August 12, 1984. On April 3, 1924, he was born in De Queen, Arkansas. He was the owner of the KRNR Radio Station and lived in the roseburg area for the past 25 years. He was a member of the Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Faye Johnson of Roseburg; 2 daughters, Janie Johnson and Alana Day, a son-in-law, Jeff Day and 1 grandson, Jeffery Day. all of Roseburg. James William Johnson, 73, pioneer citizen and well known farmer of the West Line community, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs Curtis Childress (Lois Dempsey Johnson) in DeQueen, Thursday at 8:30 p.m., following a six-day illness of pneumonia. Deceased was born July 20, 1860 at Kingston, Tenn., and had been a resident of Sevier county for the past 50 years. Funeral service was held at the Childress home Sunday at 3 p.m., being conducted by the Rev. J.F. Queen. Interment was made in Walnet Grove cemetery (The cemetery eventually became known as West Line.) at West Line, with a short service at the grave. The Wilkerson funeral Home directed the funeral. Mr. Johnson is survived by his widown, four daughters and five sons, as follows: Mrs. Walter Johns (Elsie Jane Johnson), Newark, N.J., Mrs Curtis Childress (Lois Dempsey Johnson), DeQueen, Mrs. C.M. Saturday, June 12. his body was returned to DeQueen where funeral services were held Tuesday, June 15 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Christian church with the Rev. Virgil P. Glass officiating. Interment was in Redmen cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.He was born December 8, 1853 in Tennessee and had made his home in DeQueen until a few years ago when he went to Georgia to make his home with his daughter. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Black of Atlanta; one son, Floyd Johnson of Atlanta; one sister, Mrs. Belle Newton of Dallas, Texas, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Robert H. Johnson, a 47-year resident of San Bernardino, died of heart failure Friday at Redlands Community Hospital. He was 85. Johnson was a native of De Queen, Ark. Before his retirement, he was a carpenter for Carpenters Union 944 in San Bernardino for 28 years. He was a member of the Community Garden Project as part of the San Bernardino Parks and Recreation Department. Survivors include his wife, Hazel of San Bernardino; three sons, Bob, Jimmy and Roger, all of San Bernardino; a daughter, Joann Smith of Riverside; two sisters, Allie Mae Crowder of Texas and Geraldine Hamilton of Oregon; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. A feeling of deep regret swept over our community when publicity was given to the fact that S. D. Johnson was dead. During his brief sojourn with us he had endeared himself to all. He was a man of generous impulses and his genial manner won friends and retained them. Mr. Johnson was born in New York State and was 69 years old. Surviving him is his widow and four children. Mr. Bert Johnson being the only son. The funeral was held in the Methodist Church on Sunday, December, 24, and were largely attended and very impressive in character. The Church was heavily draped with black. Rev. Manville spoke feeling of his intimacy with the deceased, and in terms of helpfulness to the sadly bereaved. A large concourse followed the procession to the New City Cemetery. (The City Cemetery is now known as "Redman Cemetery.")

Death of Bennie Jones,34,occured at 8:30 a.m. Monday at the Sanitarium of Paris, Paris, TX, where he was carried on Sunday. He passed away following an operation Monday morning. Funeral rites were held at the First Baptist church at Shults, Tuesday at 3 p.m., with Rev. W.B. Tatum pastor of the First Baptist church of Idabel officiating. Interment was made in Denison cemetery. Arrangements were in charge of Coffey Funeral home. Pallbearers were W.I. Whitely, G.C. Bryant, Herbert Derryberry, C.B. Wilson, Emmett Lewis, and Joe Hough. Jones was born at Locksburg, Ar and moved to McCurtain Co. with his parents at an early age. He attended grade school at Shults, and later attended Idabel highschool. During his school days he was an active 4-H club member. He was in charge of the Arnesdale Farm Dairy for seven years, later moving to the Earl farm on Red River south of Garvin, where he was engaged in farming at the time of his death. Survivers are his wife, who was Miss Anamoi McGuire before her marriage. She is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F.A. McGuire: three children, Leon, Edna Hope, and Kenneth Carl Jones: parents, Mr. and Mrs. M.J. "Buck" Jones; four brothers, Earl Jones, Stillwater: Wesley Jones, Idabel: Dillard and Jesse Jones, Garvin route one; two sisters, Mrs. Cleo Elliott, Durant, and Mrs. Drebon Sanders, Shults.

George W. Jones, aged 75 years, passed away Friday morning at 7:30 o'clock at the home of his son,J.F. (Coot) Jones at Shults following an illness of several weeks. Funeral services were held today at the residence with Rev. Jim Martin of Redland officiating. Burial was in Denison cemetery under direction of Coffey Funeral Home. Mr. Jones is survived by his wife, two sons, J.F. Jones ,Shults and Bill Jones of Mineral Springs,Arkansas: two daughters, Mrs. Nellie Warren of Bokhoma and Mrs. Lizzie Smith of Willis Point, Texas, and a number of grandchildren. Perry Forrester of Idabel, is a grandson. The deceased came to McCurtain county several years ago form Nashville, Arkansas, and had been engaged in farming until a few years ago. He resided near Broken Bow for a few years.

Mr. H. J. Jones passed away at his home Wednesday evening after suffering a stroke of paralysis. The remains were laid to rest in the City Cemetery. He was born June 17, 1862. He was married to Margaret J. Springs August 28, 1880 in Howard County, Arkansas. He is survived by his wife and eight children. Mrs. Leedy Hallum, of Calera Oklahoma, Bud , George, John, and Tom Jones, Mrs. Jennie Russell, Mrs. Etta,Wyatt, Mrs Ida Locklear, all of De Queen. One brother John H. HIRAM JESSE JONES, aged 79, resident of Yuma, Ariz., died Monday Jan. 27, 1992 in Yuma. Funeral services were held at 12 noon Friday, Jan. 31, in Ryzek Mortuary with Pastor Steve Green of Grace Church of Nazarene officiating. Burial followed in Desert Lawn. He was born Sept. 15, 1912 in De Queen; and was a retired farmer and logger. His parents were pioneers at De Queen. Survivors are his wife, Audrey Earles Jones of Yuma, Ariz.; one son, Roy Wayne Jones Sr. of Yuma Ariz.; one daughter, Judith Marie Staggs of Carlin, Nez.; two brothers, George Anderson Jones of Farmington, N.M. and Sherman John Henry Jones of Sweetwater, Tex.; Two sisters; Jennette Caroline Esparza of Sweetwater, Tex.., and Lois Mitchell of De Queen; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Tom Jones Sr. retired carpenter and brick mason died Saturday night in his home in the Lone Oak community. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Tuesday Dec. 10th. at Wilkerson Funeral Chapel with Dr. E. B. Abington officiating. Burial will be in the Redman Cemetery. A life long resident of Sevier County, he was born Dec. 14th. 1896 at De Queen where he was a member of the First Baptist Church and Masonic Lodge. Survivors are his wife Mrs. Irene Jones; one son, Tom Jones Jr. of Madill, Okla.; two daughters, Mrs. Sylvia Key of De Queen and Mrs. Wilda Boyet of Hot Springs; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

George & Eva Jones. She passed away Feburary 9, 1999 at Las
Vegas, NV. Cause of death, cancer. She is survived by sister, Lois
Mitchell of DeQueen & brother Sherman Jones of Kingman, AZ.
Aunt Jennette had no children, but will be greatly missed by many
nieces & nephews. She was laid to rest at Greens Chapel Cemetary,
DeQueen, next to her first husband, Eurby D. "Pete" Shelton.

John Henry Jones 48, died suddenly from a heart attack at his home five miles northwest of De Queen Tuesday, December 3, at 6 p.m. Funeral services will be held Thrusday morning at 10 o'clock at the Wilkerson Chapel with the Rev. E. D. Galloway officiating. Interment will be in the Redmen cemetery under direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home. Mr. Jones was born May 31, 1892, in Howard County and was a World War veteran. He is survived by his wife, one son, J. J. Hones, three brothers, Tom, George and Bud Jones of De Queen; one sister, Mrs. Albert Russell, De Queen.

Mrs. Irene Jones dies Jan. 20 in Hot Springs Mrs. Irene B. Jones, age 73, resident of De Queen died in a Hot Springs Hospital following several months of illness. Funeral services were held at 2 PM Wednesday, Jan. 21 in Wilkerson Funeral Chapel with Rev. Edgar Keck officiating. Burial was in the Redman Cemetery under direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home. She was born Sept. 13, 1896 in Hollywood Ark. and had lived a number of years near De Queen. She was a member of the Lone Oak Baptist Church. Survivors include one son, Tom Jones Jr., of Madill, Okla.; two daughters, Mrs. Wilda Boyet of Hot Springs and Sylvia Key of De Queen; five brothers, Horace, Russell and Claude Burton, all of Okalona, Clarence Burton of Murfreesboro and Lawrence Burton of Arkadelphia, Three sisters Mrs. Ed Tarpley, Okalona, Mrs Viola Ellsworth of Manteca, Calif. and Mrs. Marie Huff of Missouri; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren Pallbearers were Cecil Pearcy, Melvin Davis, Charles Miller, T.W. Bingham, Jeff Lacefield and Melvin Bell.

Mrs. Mary Ann Jones died June 30, 1922 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Sutliff, of Foreman. She was 67 years of age. She was the wife of J.W. Jones. She was a member of the Baptist Church and lived a devout Christion life. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. D.M. Elkins and the remains were laid to rest in the Belleville cemetery in the presence of a host of friends and relatives. She leaves a hesband, several children, two brothers, one sister and a host of friends to mourn her death. We deeply sympathize with the bereaved ones.

Graveside services were held at 2 P.M. Friday, September 27th at Watson, McCurtain Co., OK., under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, DeQueen AR., with Rev. Tim Bowlin officiating. He is survived by his wife, Orene Nipper-Jones, four sons, Leroy Jones, Murl D Jones, Hardy Mattson Jones, Anthony Manual Jones, and one adopted Grandson, Earl Lee Jones. Ten daughters, Nadean Jones-Higgins, Georgia Lee Jones-Martin, Wanda Lou, Vonda Sue, Aleta Maria, Meleta Arnette, Carolyn Lynn, Christy Machille, Elena Dannetta and Kayla Rhena. One brother, Silas F Jones, Six sisters, Mary M Limore, Naomi R. Rodriquez, Martha S Real, Ella N. Harper, Daisy M Poor and Connie A. Roberts, all of Adair Co., OK. He was preceded in death by his parents, Pete M Jones and Nora Bell Rhodes-Jones, his first wife, Cynthia Mary Young-Jones, one son, Earl Gene Jones and one sister, Nellie Fay Jones. Several Grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and a Host of FriendsHe was a World War II Veteran who served his Country in Germany. Graveside funeral services for Mr. Paul M. Jones will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27, 2002 in the Watson Cemetery, Watson, McCurtain Co., Oklahoma with Rev. Tim Bowlin officiating, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, September 26, 2002.

De Queen Bee, November 27th. 1918 Mrs. Tom Jones dies of influenza at the home of her mother on Rose Hill Nov. 21st. and was laid to rest at the Redman Cemetery Nov. 21st. She leaves a mother six brothers and three sisters, a husband and one child to mourn her loss.Oh how we will miss her but God claimed her best. She was 17 years of age. She took sick at home and prayed for God to give her strength to come home to mama's to be cared for, and God gave her the strength. So she came. She only lived a week and four days after she came for help. She told us all she couldn't live, but for us not to worry for she was going to a better world where there is no sickness, pain or death. Velma Cook Jones, 82, of Lockesburg, Ark., died Sunday, July 12, 1998, in a De Queen, Ark. hospital. Mrs. Jones was born Feb. 19, 1916, in Daisy, Ark. She was the retired owner of Tip Top Cafe, a homemaker and member of First Baptist Church. Survivors include two sons, Hubert L. Jones of Hot Springs, Ark.; and Jerry Wayne Jones of Hattiesburg, Miss.; one daughter, Nelda Hooker of Lockesburg; two sisters, Ollie Avery of Redding, Calif., and Velean Watkins of Burney, Calif.; five grandchildren, Marty Hooker, Darla Latimer, Monty Jones, Jay Jones and Crystal Tollett; 11 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. Services will be 2 p.m. today at Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Wesley Blankenship officiating. Burial will be in Coulter Memorial Gardens, Lockesburg.

Vernon Dillard Jones, Baytown, Tex., died ther unexpectedly at 6 p.m. Tuesday of a heart attack. Born at Lockesburg, Ark., October 2, 1903 he had resided at Baytown for the past two years, being at Idabel from 1916 until he moved there. He was an employee of the Baytown high school and a member of the Baptist church. Funeral services have been set for 3 p.m. today at Denison cemetery with Rev. W. R. Merry officiating. Arragnements and burial in denison cemetery are under direction of Coffey funeral home. He is survived by his widow (Ruth Odell Jones); one daughter Miss Jima Carol, and three sons, Charles Vernon, Stanley Wade and Harold Dean Jones, all of the home, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. m.J. Alfred I. Doss officiating. Interment will be in the Redman Cemetery. Mr. Jones was born January 28, 1885 in Nashville and was resident of De Queen for many years. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Flora Jones, one sister, Mrs. Albert Russell and one brother Tom Jones, all of De Queen.
