Bruce & Hammett Mill

On Friday morning the first bale of cotton was ginned at the Burce and Hammett Mill in this city. It was raised by W.J. Faulkner of the Cherokee Nation, a short distance from this city across the Arkansas River. It weighed 525 pounds and was classed strict low middling. Messrs, Bocquin & Reutzel shipped it to St. Louis to be sold at auctin. Another bale came in by the same day from Cherokee Nation raised by John Breedlove. It weighed 555 lbs. and sold for 11 cts.
