Pfc Danny Ray West

Private First Class Danny Ray West was born on Dec 23, 1947 to Thomas Kelly West & Estell West. He grew up in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He received his education at Howard and Lincoln High school in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. He was drafted into the Army. Entered the service via Selective Service. He began his tour of duty on April 24, 1968. His military occupation or specialty was Light Weapons Infantry. He was attached to 198th Light Infantry Brigade, 5th Battalion, 46th Infantry, B Company. May 1, 1968 Pfc West was killed by hostile fire causisng multple fragmentation wounds, which were fatal, while engaged in battle at Vietnam, Quang Ngal province.
