His final rank in the Air Force was A1c. =============================================== John Raymond Shumaker, 83 of Lavaca, passed away on Thursday, April 8, 2021. He was born on January 14, 1938 in Hominy, OK to the late Raymond and Lois Shumaker. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and retired from Fox Manufacturing. He was of the Baptist faith. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a grandchild, Donny Johnson. Graveside Service will be 10:00 A.M. Tuesday at the pavilion of Fort Smith National Cemetery with military honors. Arrangements are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home. He is survived by five sons, Bill Johnson of Las Vegas, Tommy, Rodney, James and Scott Shumaker, Sr., all of Lavaca; nine grandchildren; Jordan Coats, Jeff Johnson, Debbie Johnson, Melony Farris, Shelbi, Chrissy, Breanna, Daisie and Scott Shumaker, Jr.; five great grandchildren; Oliver and Evie Coats, Austin and Aubree Harris and Faithlyn Farris. Public Viewing will be from Noon to 5:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home.
