Warren Edward Wingfield was born May 23, 1924 at Barling, Sebastian Co., Ar. to Luther & Hattie C. Eslinger Wingfield. October 16, 1947 Warren married Lilly Lucille Bugg, also from Barling. They married in Franklin Co., Ar.

July 25, 1945 Warren registered for the military draft at the court house in Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Ar.
May 26, 1943 he enlisted in the US Army Air Corps serving until May 10, 1945. He served with the 725th Squadron 451 Bombardment Group, a Consolidated B-24 Liberator heavy bombardment organization assigned to Fifteenth Air Force in Italy.

It was created in 1942 and is awarded for single acts of heroism or meritorious achievement while participating in aerial flight. September 12. 2003 Warren Edward Wingfield passed away. He was buried at the Steep Hill Cemetery not far from his home.

BARLING - Warren "Wimpy" Wingfield, 79, of Barling died Friday, Sept. 12, 2003, in Fort Smith. He was born May 23, 1924, in Sebastian County. He was an Air Force veteran of World War II, was retired from Mercury Motors and Ryder Truck Lines and was a member of the Barling Volunteer Fire Department and the Barling Senior Citizens. He was of the Second Adventist faith.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at Steep Hill Cemetery south of Fort Smith under the direction of Smith Mortuary of Charleston.

He is survived by his wife, Lilly; and a sister, Mary Miller of Barling. The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Edwards Funeral Home in Fort Smith.
