October 1, 1949 he married Irene Yancey from Lavaca, Sebastian Co., Ar. Carl registered for the military draft at Sneedville, Hancock Co., Tennessee. No date is given. He enlisted in the US Army May 14, 1946 and served until May 13, 1949. He again enlisted May 14, 1958 and served until April 1, 1962. Carl passed away December 19, 2008 at Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Ar. His His burial was in the Williams Family Cemetery in Hancock Co., Tennessee. ==================================== Carl R. Williams, Sr. resided in Lavaca, Arkansas, departed this life on Friday, December 19, 2008, at St. Edward Mercy Medical Center in Fort Smith. He was born February 26, 1923 in Treadway, Tennessee to the late Hence Williams and Ida "Wolf" Williams. He was 85 years old. He was a retired U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was a Baptist. His body was cremated and his cremains will be buried at the Williams family cemetery in Treadway, Tennessee at a later date. Memorial service will be 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 23, 2008, at the Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Charleston, with the Rev. Roy Lovell officiaing, under the direction of the Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home in Charleston.
