Lawrence Willie Wilkins was born 4 Sep 1924 in Johnson Co., Ar. to Belvie W. "Bud" & Maggie Ellen Havener Wilkins. By 1935 the family had moved to Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Ar. Dec 18, 1942 Lawrence registered for the draft. He was assigned to Co F, 2nd Bn, 28th Mar, 5th Mar Div, FMF(Fleet Marine Forces). Marine Cpl. Lawrence W. Wilkins, age 20, was Killed in Action 21 Feb 1945, during operations against Imperial Japanese Forces on Iwo Jima, Bonins (Volcano) Islands. Cpl.
