William Paul White 1914-2012
William Paul White was born April 18. 1914 in Dripping Springs, Crawford
Co., Ar. to William Otis & Jim Eva Jean White. November 24, 1940
Paul married Mable Charlotte Wells in Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Arkansas, both being
residents there.
Paul registered for the military draft October 16, 1940 at Belle Point
School in Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Ar. At that time he was employed at
Moorman Meat Co, in Fort Smith. June 18, 1942 he enlisted in the US Army at
Camp Josepth T Robinson, Little Rock, Arkansas.
In February 1945 Paul was wounded in action and admitted to the hospital. His
wounds were described on his Hospital Admitance Card as
"penetrating (point of entrance only: includes incised, puncture or stab wound)
with no nerve or artery involvement; Location: Shoulder; Location: Ankle region;
Causative Agent: Artillery Shell, Fragments, Afoot or unspecified; Diagnosis
Medical Treatment Closure of wound, delayed, or Suture secondary of wound
(delayed closure); Removal of foreign odies from others." He was returned to
duty from General Hospital in March 1945.
After the war Paul and Charlotte remained in California along with Paul's parents
who moved there.
William Paul White passed away March 11, 2012 one day after his wife
Charlotte's death and they were buried in the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in
Santa Nella, Merced Co., California.
