Ray Leon "Dutch" Weindel was born November 3, 1920 at Barling, Sebastian Co., Ar. to George Alvin & Naomi Ella King Weindel. His first marriage was to Lila L Yarbrough on August 22, 1942. They were divorced February 11, 1946. He married Beulah Faye Smith on April 1, 1948 at Charleston, Arkansas.

February 16, 1942 Ray registered for the military draft at Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Ar. He enlisted in the US Army October 17, 1942 at Little Rock, Arkansas. Another source for his enlistment says he enlisted October 31, 1942. He served until January 4, 1946. On his enlistment papers he states he had completed grammar school. Nothing more is known about his time in the service.

Ray L. "Dutch" Weindel, 62, of Lavaca, died Thursday at his home. He was a retired driver for Gordon Transport Co. He attended the Central Freewill Bapsits Church and was a World War II veteran.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be held at the Mayberry Cemetery near Central.

He is survived by his wife, Beulah; two daughters, Peggy Wilson of Lavaca and Beverly Woods of Fenplor, Mich; three sisters, Mary Hood and Lena McClain, both of Greenwood, and Thelma Simmons of Fort Smith; two brothers, Ed of Greenwood and Bill of Oakland, Calif., and one grandchild.
