James Columbus Vaughn
1923-2010

James Columbus "J.C." Vaughn was born March 5, 1923 in Sequoyah Co., Oklahoma to Leslie Franklin & Elsie Emily Church Vaughn. October 26 1941 J.C. married Claudia Marie Curl at Fort Smith, Sebastoam Co. Arkansas, both being residents there.

J.C. registered for the military draft June 30, 1942 at Sebastian Co., Ar. He enlisted in the US Navy. I found no other information about his service except in his obituary below.

A tribute from Jim Spears.....
"I worked for him in 1965-66. Delivery boy for Vaughn Drug. He was a graduate of College of the Ozarks and was a pharmacist. His wife Claudia along with JC were instrumental in forming the Sebastian Co. Girls Softball League and leased Andrews Field at a nominal fee for that purpose. Claudia also established the Fort Smith Girls Shelter and devoted her life and his to serving the youth of this area. Good stories about making deliveries to the Como and Ozark hotels to the "working girls". Proud to have been friends with the Vaughn."

Dr. James C. Vaughn passed away June 11 2010 in Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Ar. He is buried in Rose Lawn Park Cemetery at Fort Smith, Arkansas.
