Lewis/Louis Edward Turner was born Feb 3, 1916 in Huntington, Sebastian Co., Ar. to Louis E. and Bonnie Waters Turner. Lewis joined the US Army Air Corps and was attched to the India-China Wing, Air Transport Command as a 2Lt. Navigator was his position on the flights. On the fateful flight on which 2Lt Turner lost his life 20 Dec 1943, along with the other crew members, their destination was Kunming, China of which they were close when they dropped out of sight. He, along with the other members of the crew were finally declared dead while they were missing. Death dates were set according to the last time they were heard from. 2Lt Turner and the other crew members are memorialized at Tablets of the Missing at Manila American Cemetery, Manila, Philippines. This is an American Battle Monuments Commission location.
