Leon Rector Thompson, Sr. was born in December 29, 1919 at Fort Smith, Ar. to George & Daisy Green Thompson. On July 18, 1942 Leon married Elizabeth Shopshire at Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Ar. On 8 Nov 1942 Leon enlisted in the US Army in Little Rock, Arkansas. He states he finished 4 years of high school and his civil occupation was Porter. Leon was assigned to the 2048th Quarter Masters Corps as a Tec 5. Tec 5 Thompson died on July 1, 1944 from a non battle cause. The medical diagnosis on Tec 5 Leon's Hospital Admission Card was "Thorax, generally". Tec 5 Leon Rector Thompson was buried in the National cemetery at Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Ar.
