Thomas Franklin Stockton
1923-1975


Thomas Franklin Stockton was born March 25, 1923 in Lavaca, Sebastian Co., Ar. to James Alvis and Katie Ethel Walton Stockton. On the 1940 census Thomas and his parents are living in Fort Smith, Ar. The street address was "Unincorporayted Coke Hill."

January 2, 1942 Thomas married Betty Ruth Duncan, both living in Ft.Smith, Sebastian Co., Ar. at that time. August 12, 1946 Tom and Betty were divorced while living in Sebastian Co., Ar. The divorce was not completed and they remained married.

On June 30, 1942 Thomas registered for the military draft at Bridgeport Neb. He was working there at that time but his registration was recorded in Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Ar. as that was the address he gave for his actual place of residence.

He enlisted in the US Army May 11, 1943 at Little Rock, Arkansas. He states he has a grammer school education and lives in Sebastian Co., Ar. Nothing more is found about his time in the service except his discharge date of December 22, 1945.

Thomas filled out a "Second Draft Registration" card at the courthouse in Fort Smith, Ar. September 7, 1948. It gives his date of seperation as Dec 22, 1945. His rank given on the 2nd draft card is PFC. He is assigned a new service number.

Thomas Franklin Stockton passed away November 30, 1975 in Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Ar. His burial was at Upper Camp Creek Cemetery in Muldrow, Sequoyah Co., Ok. where some other family are also buried. From another researcher: "Tom died when he was drunk walking home down Rogers Ave. and it was raining. He stepped out into the street and was run over by a car."
