July 1, 1941 Robert Lansing registered for the military draft at Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Ar. He states that he was born in Calico Rock, Izard Co., Ar. He is working for Andy Graham in Lavaca. Ar. Jan 25, 1945 he enlisted in the US Army at Ft. MacArthur, San Pedro, California. He served until April 28, 1945. A Hospital Admittance Card from Camp Roberts, California says he was discharged for a disability. Length of service was 3 months. Robert Lansing Smithson passed away Sept 22, 1995 in San Diego, Ca. He was buried in the Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, California.
