Johnie Howard "Buck" Smithson was born August 26, 1925 in Lavaca,
Sebastian Co., Ar. to John Noel & Inez Vivian Martindale Smithson.
On Sept 6, 1945 Buck married Evelyn Reta Martin, both
from Lavaca, Sebastian Co., Ar.
August 26, 1943 Buck registered for the military draft at the Sebastian County
Court House in Ft. Smith, Ar. He enlisted with the US Army. I did not find any further
military information on him other than the Draft Cards.
Johnie Howard Smithson passed away Jan 2, 2005 in Fort Smith, Ar. His place of
residence was Lavaca, Ar. He was buried in the Oak Valley Cemetery at Lavaca,
Sebastian Co., Ar.

Johnie H. "Buck" Smithson, 79, of Lavaca, Arkansas died Sunday, January 2,
2005, in Fort Smith. He was born August 26, 1925, in Lavaca. He was a member of
Lavaca Methodist Church and an Army veteran of World War II; he was retired from
Rheem, a retired farmer and a member of VFW. He was preceded in death by his
mother, Inez Smithson, his father, John Smithson, sisters Bessie, Wanda and Rene;
and his wife, Evelyn Smithson.
Funeral was held at 10 a.m. at Lewis Funeral Chapel in Lavaca with burial at Oak
Valley Cemetery.
He is survived by a daughter, and her husband John, three sisters, a brother, 15,
grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
