Carl Dean Smithson was born May 16, 1918 in Big Creek Township, Sebastian Co., Ar. to James Washington Grady & Minne Mae Waller Smithson. On November 8, 1951 October 5, 1935 Carl married 15 year old Hattie Louise Boyd in Lavaca, Sebastian Co., Ar. where they both resided. October 16, 1940 Carl registered for the military draft at El Rio, Ventura, Calif. His employer was at that time L.G. Maulhardt Ranch. March 26, 1945 Carl enlisted in the US Navy and served until Aug 10, 1945, 5 months. Carl Dean Smithson passed away October 24, 1980 in Lavaca, Sebastian Co., Ar. and was buried in the Oak Valley Cemetry near there.
