Photo shared by Mary Riggs Gill Ralph June Riggs was born June 4, 1922 in Arkansas to Ralph Lamphier & Mable Rae Ford Riggs. April 12, 1951 Ralph married Billie Jean Scott in Sebastian Co., Ar. Ralph enlisted in the US Navy October 21, 1940 and served until December 22, 1946. His rank was MMC or Machinist's Mate Chief Petty Officer. Nothing more is found about his time in the Navy. He did serve part of that time in the Korean War also. Note from Jo Lynn Riggs Gerdes: "Ralph June Riggs retired in 1960 not 1946. He served 20 years active duty and then from 1960-1970 he was in the Fleet Reserves." In 1956 he and his wife are living in Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Ar.. They are found in the city directory there. Ralph is the Officer in Charge at the USN Recruiting Office. Ralph June Riggs passed away December 1, 1986 in San Diego, California. His burial was in the National Cemetery in Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Ar.
