Howell Leslie Riddle was born January 2, 1910 in Clarksville, Johnson Co., Arkansas to Greenlee Landram & Mary Francis "Fannie" Lamb Riddle. By 1920 the Riddle family were living in Big Creek, Sebastian Co., and in 1940 had moved to Fort Smith, Ar. June 2, 1935 Howell married Rosena Marie Smith. They were both residents of Fort Smith, Sebastian Co. Ar. On the 16th of October 1940 Howell registered for the military draft at the Junior High School in Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Ar. Nov 16, 1943 He enlisted in the US Marine Corps. He was wounded in action during his service. No date is given. April 1945 he is found on a Marine Corp Muster list. Copy below. PFC Howell was discharged November 21, 1945. Howell Leslie Riddle passed away November 14, 1995 in Fort Smith, Arkansas and is buried there in the Fort Smith National Cemetery.
