Charles Henry "Buddy" Porter was born September 21, 1925 at Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Ar. to Joseph Foster, Sr.& Grace Vogel Porter. May 15, 1947 he married Elzie Helen Merrill, both of Fort Smith, Arkansas.

September 22, 1943 he registered for the military draft at the courthouse in Fort Smith, Arkansas The only mention of him serving in WWII is in his obituary below.

Charles Henry Buddy Porter passed away December 27, 2014 in Salem, Fulton Co., Ar. and is buried at the Viola Cemetery there.

Charles "Buddy" Henry Porter was born in Fort Smith, Arkansas, September 21, 1925, son of Foster and Grace (Vogel) Porter. He departed this life Saturday, December 27, 2014, at Fulton County Hospital in Salem, Arkansas, at the age of 89 years, 3 months and 6 days.

Buddy served in the South Pacific during WWII with the US Army and was of the Catholic faith. He was an antique dealer and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Buddy is survived by his family: Bonita Montgomery of the home in Viola, Arkansas; Donald Montgomery of Viola, Arkansas; Danny Porter of Mt. Home, Arkansas; Josh and Austin Porter, both of Mt. Home, Arkansas; Velisa and Eddie DeShazo of Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas; Hadley De Shazo of Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas; Adam Montgomery of Jonesboro, Arkansas; Rachel and Aaron Young of Little Rock, Arkansas; Addison and Cullen; and one sister, Ruth Tenner of Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister; three brothers and Steve Montgomery.

Funeral services will be held at Barker Funeral Home in Salem, Arkansas, at 10:00 AM Tuesday, December 30, 2014, with Donald Montgomery and Adam Montgomery officiating. Interment will be in the Viola Cemetery in Viola, Arkansas, with arrangements entrusted to Barker Funeral Home of Salem. Memorials preferred to Arkansas Children's Hospital.
