Charlie Liotta was born 21 Aug 1921 in Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Ar. to Serafino "Sam" & Leonarda 'Finnie' 'Lena' Benedetto Liotta. He graduated from Fort Smith, High School. His father Sam was born in Italy. Charlie registered for the military draft Feburary 16, 1942. He enlisted with the US Army Air Corps 14 Aug 1942 in Little Rock, Ark. He was attached to 367th Fighter Group, 393rd Fighter Squadron as a Pilot. The 367 Fighter Group was called the "THE DYNAMITE GANG". 2Lt Charlie Liotta was killed in action June 25, 1944 piloting his P-28J Lightning during a task force escort mission over France. 2Lt Liotta is buried or memorialized at the Cambridge American Cemetery Cambridge, England.
