Roscoe Eugene Lamkin was born 27 Oct 1919 in Birmingham, Jefferson Co., AL. to John Allen & Katherine "Kate" Quattlander Lamkin. Before 1930 the family was living in Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Ar. Roscoe enlisted 29 Jul 1941 in Sebastian County, AR. being the eldest of the two Lamkin brothers who enlisted together that day, John being the other. On Jan 1943 Roscoe was at the Marine Corps Base, San Diego Co., CA. in Parachute Training School at Camp Gillespie. Cpl Lamkin was attached to CO K Third Paratroop Bn First Paratroop Regt. Dec 9, 1943, Sgt. Lamkin is listed as KIA at the Battle of Bougainville, British Solomon Islands.
