Granville George "GG" Johnson was born in Roseville, Logan Co., Ar. September 1, 1902 to William Lonis (Will) & Henrietta "Etta" Rush Johnson. September 18, 1926 GG married Adah Forman in Sebastian Cco., Ar. February 16, 1942 Granville registered for the military draft at Fort Smith, Sebastion Co. Arkansas. He enlisted in the US Navy November 22, 1942. He served until June 27, 1945. His second enlistment date was 24 Oct 1950 with discharge being 5 Jan 1951. His rank in the Navy was SF3. (Shipfitter Third Class). A shipfitter is a marine occupational classification used both by naval activities and among ship builders; however, the term applies mostly to certain workers at commercial and naval shipyards during the construction or repair phase of a ship. No further information is found for Granville's time in the service. Granville George Johnson passed away April 7, 1987 at Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Ar. where he had resided since the war.
