Grover Delap Holland was born April 2, 1920 in Mont Sandels Township, Sebastian Co., Ar. to Joseph "Joe" Shelby Sr. & Clara Elizabeth "Bessie" Delap Holland. No marriage record has been found for Grover. In the Fort Smith, Ar City Directories in the 1950s his listing includes "Kay L." Grover registered for the military draft July 1, 1941 in Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Ar. His enlisted with the US Army October 24, 1941 and served until December 21, 1945 with the rank of Sgt. Except for his listings in the Fort Smith City Directory nothing else has been found about his life. His military marker in the cemetery shows he was awarded the Purple Heart medal. Grover Delap Holland passed away Feb 10, 1998 and is buried in the Barling, Arkansas Cemetery at Barling.
