Edward Steven Gross, 84 a lifelong resident of Fort Smith, passed away
in his home Wednesday, April 21, 2010.
He graduated from St. Anne's Academy and attended Fort Smith Junior College.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He was a farmer,
owned saw mills, a Tom's Candy distributorship, and was a realtor for
Century 21, Don Smith & Associates, Bradford & Udouj and Kralicek Realty.
He was an Army Veteran of World War II serving in the Pacific. He was a former
Ward 2 Fort Smith City Director in the mid 80's. He loved hunting, fishing,
woodworking, and traveling with his wife Rosemary.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Stephen Anthony Gross & Bertha
Catherine Hammer Gross; his sister Helen Narisi; brother Leo Gross; and
grandson Benjamin.
Rosary was Sunday, April 25th at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
Mass was 10:00 AM Monday, April 26th at Immaculate Conception Catholic
Church with burial at Holy Cross Cemetery. Arrangements were under the
direction of Fentress Mortuary of Fort Smith.
He is survived by wife of 63 years Rosemary Gross of the home; one daughter
Martha Osbun and her husband Bill of Fort Smith; five sons, Tony Gross and
his wife Linda of Henderson, Nevada, John Gross and his wife Sandy of
El Dorado, Arkansas, Mark Gross of Sutherlin, Oregon; Tim Gross and his
wife Trish of Ozark, Arkansas and David Gross of Hackett, Arkansas; two
sisters, Sue Jacobs and Rose Marie Latta both of Fort Smith, 14 Grandchildren,
and 14 Great Grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by
his caregivers Victor & Alicia and faithful friend Mattie.
Pallbearers were Tony, John, Mark, Tim, and David Gross, and Bill Osbun.
