Robert Hunt Gregg was born May 20, 1922 in Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Arkansas to Robert William & Sofronia Grace Hunt Gregg. January 18, 1948 he married Wanda Lou Crisee at Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Ar. as both resided there.

Robert registered for the military draft June 29, 1942 at the court house in Ft Smith, Sebastian Co., Ar. He enlisted in the US Army Air Corps at Fayetteville, while attending college. He states he has completed 2 years of college. His residence was still Fort Smith, Ar. Nothing more is found about his time in the service.

Robert Hunt Gregg, Sr. passed away January 10, 2013 at Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Ar. His burial was in Oak Cemetery in Fort Smith.

Robert Hunt Gregg Sr., 90, of Fort Smith died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, in Fort Smith. He was born May 20, 1922, in Fort Smith to Robert William and Sofronia Grace Hunt Gregg.

He was a graduate of Fort Smith High School, class of 1940, and an active member of the Alumni Association. He attended Fort Smith Junior College and graduated from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville in 1947 with a BSBA degree.

He served in the Air Force from 1943-45. He was assigned to the Air Transport Command, North African division and Asia Pacific division. Beginning in 1947 until 2002, he worked in various executive positions for Hunt's Department Stores, Gregg's Stores and Louann's Fashions. He was a 50-year member of the Fort Smith Noon Exchange Club and Belle Point Lodge No. 20 AF&M.

Following retirement from the department store business, he served 10 years as a volunteer for the American Red Cross Western Arkansas Division, where he was a disaster instructor and worked on numerous local and national disasters and was a member of the board of directors. He was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church and served on the official board, First Methodist Foundation, member of the Seekers Bible class, the United Methodist Men, served as Stephen's Minister caregiver and was a volunteer in the Angel Food Ministries.

He is survived by his wife, Naomi L. Gregg of the home; a son, Robert Hunt Gregg Jr. and wife Alicia of Dallas; a daughter, Lou Ann Keith and husband Brian of Nampa, Idaho; a sister, Lucy Gregg Werntz and husband Frank David of Muskogee, Okla.; a stepson, Donald Platt and wife Lou Ann of St. Charles, Mo.; a stepdaughter, Anne Rosenberg of Muldrow; six grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Wanda Cristee Gregg; a son, William R. Gregg; and brother, Richard T. Gregg.

Memorial service will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Roebuck Chapel of First United Methodist Church. Private burial will be at Oak Cemetery. Service is under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
