Joe Elmer Elmore was born May 29, 1920 in Witcherville, Sebastian Co., Arkansas to Otis Green & Mary C. Moore Elmore. On May 17, 1942 Joe married Wanda Grace Layne, both residents of Huntington, Ar. July 1, 1941 Joe registered for the military draft in Huntington, Sebastian Co. Ar. He enlisted in the US Army November 12, 1942 at Little Rock, Arkansas. On his enlistment papers he says he is "semiskilled in manufacture of furniture." Nothing more is found about his time in the service. He was discharged on August 6, 1943. Joe Elmer Elmore passed away October 15, 2005 and is buried in the Huntington Cemetery, at Huntington, Sebastian Co., Ar. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Joe Elmore, 85, of Huntington, Arkansas died Saturday October 15, 2005, in his home. He owned and operated Elmore's 71 Market, was a veteran of the U.S. Army, was a former member of the Huntington City Council, a member of the Huntington Ball Field Association, a member of the Hartford Lodge 609 F&AM and a 32nd degree Mason. Graveside service was held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Huntington Cemetery under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood. He is survived by his wife, two sons, two sisters, 14 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.en.
