Eugene Franklin Durham was born February 28, 1915 in Checotah, Oklahoms to Robert L & Dora A Porter Durham. December 20, 1935 Eugene married Madelene Been in Sebastian Co., Ar. He was living with Lee and Grace Porter as their Nephew as early as 1920 at age 4. October 16, 1940 Eugene registered for the military draft at Bass Little, Greenwood, Arkansas. March 26, 1945 he enlisted in the US Army at Camp Josepth T,Robinson in Litte Rock, Ar. On his enlistment papers he says he completed 1 year of high school and his occupation is Skilled cranemen, derrickmen, hoistmen, and shovelmen. On the 1940 census he states his occupatioon is Miner and he completed Elementary school, 6th grade. He was discharged from the Army November 28, 1945.
