Henderson Lee Bert Duboise, Jr. was born in Oklahoma, according to the
1930 census records, on July 8, 1924. to Henderson Lee Bert Sr &
Minnie Mary Farrar DuBoise. On February 22, 1948 in
Sebastian County, Ar. H. B. married
Wanda Dean Pittman, both residents of Hackett, Sebastian Co., Ar.
The only records of H. B.'s military service are the US Navy muster rolls below.
He was wounded in action and the muster rolls for him show he was on a
medicial ship for a while. It appears his whole time in the US Navy he was
assigned to the USS Colorado except for a period in September 1943 he was
aboard the USS Yorktown, a transport ship and aboard the LST-464, "Special Medical
Unit" January 1945 according to a muster record date from the month ending
January 31, 1945. March 1945 he was listed as a passenger on the the USS Suamico,
a transport ship.

Akansas, residence being in Sebastian Co., Ar. He was buried in the Old

H B Duboise, 94, of Hackett, Arkansas passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2019
in a Fayetteville hospital. He was a retired rancher, member and past deacon
of Amity Missionary Baptist Church, member of Amity Lodge #267 F&AM, member
of the Sebastian County Sherriff's Office Mounted Patrol, member of the Board
of Directors for the Farm Service Agency, U.S. Navy veteran of World War II
serving on the USS Colorado and the recipient of the World War II Victory
Medal, Philippine Liberation Campaign Ribbon with a star and the Purple Heart.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m., Saturday, March 16 at McConnell Funeral Home
Chapel with burial at Old Union Cemetery in Hackett. Viewing will be Friday
from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home, where the family will visit
with friends from 5-7 p.m.
He is survived by two sons, Terry Duboise and wife, Judy of Hackett and Patrick
Duboise and wife, Dana of Hackett, ten grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by Dean Duboise, Anna Lee Duboise and Glenn Duboise. Pallbearers will be Brent Cooper, Randy Duboise, Anthony Crouse, Chris Duboise, Kirk Duboise and Jonathan Cooper. Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Richardson, Jessie Moss, Buck Hamby and Josh Williams.

During World War II, in May 1942, soon after USA's entry into the war, USS Colorado
undertook a defensive patrol near the Golden Gate Bridge to stop a possible Japanese
invasion. She then sailed to Fiji, to stop any further Japanese advance into the
Pacific. Next, she supported the landings on Tarawa, the Marshall Islands, Saipan,
Guam, and Tinian. On 24 July 1944, during the shelling of Tinian, Colorado received
22 shell hits from shore batteries, but continued to support the invading troops
until 3 August. She later arrived in Leyte Gulf on 20 November 1944, to support
American troops fighting ashore. On 27 November, she was hit by two kamikazes
which caused moderate damage.
After that, Colorado sailed to Luzon on 1 January 1945, where she participated in
the preinvasion bombardments in Lingayen Gulf. She returned to Okinawa on 6 August
and sailed from there to Japan for the occupation of the country, arriving in Tokyo
on 27 August. Departing Tokyo Bay on 20 September, she arrived at San Francisco on
15 October. She was placed out of commission in reserve in Pearl Harbor on 7 January
1947.
