April 23, 1943 Southwest American Fort Smith, Arkansas Leroy Vernon Dodd was born 5 Jan 1921 in Hartford, Sebastian Co., Ar. to Rudolphus Byrd & Norah Adalea Platt Dodd. Before 1940 the family had moved to Ft. Smith, Ar. Leroy graduated from Ft. Smith High School there. He finished 2 years of college. His Occupation was Clerks, general office. On 7 Jan 1942 Leroy enlisted in the US Army Air Force at Washington DC. with the rank of Aviation Cadet. He rose to the rank of 2LT with the 78 FIGHTER GP Army Air Force. 2Lt Dodd died on 15 Apr 1943 of non battle causes. He was buried in Hartford Memorial Park Cem.
