Walter Ervin Coker was born October 23, 1903 in Lavaca, Sebastian Co., Ar. to Joseph Ernest & Effie Vestine Ervin Coker. September 13, 1926 he married Bertha Norwood at Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Ar. where they both resided at that time. Walter was an auditor with Magnolia Pet Co. By 1930 they had located at Little Rock, Arkansas. Walter enlisted in the US Army Air Corps. His enlistment papers say he had completed 1 year of college and was employed in Little Rock as "Credit men". Nothing more is known about his military life except what is below on the Headstone application. He served with the 480th Base Hq & Air Base Sq. The 480th was a Fighter Squadron in WWII. Walter Ervin Coker passed away May 9, 1959 at Amarillo, Porter, Texas. His burial was at Lavaca City Cemetery, Lavaca, Sebastian Co., Ar.
