He graduated from Fort Smith High School.
His brother Col. Arthur Adolph Chidester died in 1950 in the Korean War
1LT Chidester died of wounds received September 9, 1944 fighting with the US Army 8th Infantry Division, 13th Infantry Regiment
near Lambezellac, Brittany, France. He was initially buried in the US Military Cemetery at St James France.
Afterword he was removed to Forest Park Cemetery in Fort Smith, Ar. and shares a marker with his brother.
