Sgt. Carroll Lee Cannon was born July 19, 1924 in Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Ar. to Mr. Lee Cannon and unknown mother. After graduating from high school his Occupation was as a Semiskilled construction occupations, n.e.c. On Feb. 27. 1943 at Fort Levenworth, Kansas he enlisted in the US Army as a Pvt. and was assigned to the 179th Infantry Regiment, 45th Infantry Division. On Sept. 17, 1944 he was listed as KIA, with a rank of Sergant. Sgt. Cannon was buried at the Epinal American Cemetery, Epinal, Departement des Vosges, Lorraine, France. He was awarded the Bronze Star, Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster.
