Virgil Bracken was born November 1, 1922 in Sebastian Co. Arkansas to John Clinton Sr. & Ruby Ethel Meeks Bracken. September 15, 1948 Virgil married Virginia Sue Baker at Fort Smith, Sebastian Co. Ar., both being residents there. June 30, 1942 Virgil registered for the military draft at the court house in Ft. Smith, Sebastain Co., Ar. July 22, 1944 he enlisted in the US Army, serving in the Air Corps, later known as the US Air Force. He served until October 28, 1945. His rank when he left the service was 2nd LT, Virgil Bracken passed away July 24, 2008 at Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Ar. Mr. Bracken was 85 years old. He as a retired C.P.A.; a member of the First United Methodist Church; a member of the Fort Smith Chamber of Commerce; a member of the Water Task Force Committee; a member of the Garbage Study Commission; a member of the Fort Smith Parking Authority; President o the Arkansas Society of C.P.A.s; and the Arkansas State Bord of Accountancy; as well as, the American Society of C.P.A.s. Mr. Bracken was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife: Betty Bracken; a daughter: Leslie Andrews, of Sacramento, California; a son: Bill Bracken, of Greenwood, Arkansas; 11 wonderful grandchildren; 13 precious great-grandchildren; and dear friends. Funeral service was held on Saturday, July 26, 2008, at 1:00p.m.
