James Alton Boatman was born August 24, 1914 in Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Ar. to Alexander Commodore & Carrie Janette Carson Boatman. James married Juanita Johnson about 1924. James served in the US Air Force in WWII, Korean, & Vietnam Wars. His final rank was Master Sgt. He passed away November 19, 2006 and was buried in the Fort Smith National Cemetery at Fort Smith, Arkansas. Obit James Alton Boatman was 92 years old & had been married 72 years to his wife Juanita Johnson Boatman. James was preceded in death by his parents, A.C. and Carrie Boatman; brothers, Frank & Ralph; sisters, Mary Rive and Minnie Porter; and one great-grandson, Landon Lewis. He is survived by his wife, Juanita Johnson Boatman; one daughter, Lynn Lewis and her husband, Ralph of Ft. Smith; one son, Don Boatman of Lubbock Texas; one sister, Betty Vincent of Riverside, Calif.; one brother, Alec of Hemet, Calif.; 2 sisters-in-law, Elma Sebourn of Mountainburg and Vivian Boatman of Fayetteville; 5 grandchildren, Brent Lewis and his wife, Robbie of Ft. Smith, Krista Hinton and her husband, Randall of Ft. Smith, Vance Lewis of Fayetteville, Barry Boatman of Dallas, David Boatman and his wife, Sarah of McKinney, Texas; 8 great-grandchildren
