Percy Bluford was born October 9, 1919 in Lavaca, Sebastian Co., Ar. to Johnson & Rosa Barket Bluford. In 1940 Rosa was working for Charley Rollins at Lavaca, Ar. The rest of the family except the father were lodgers there. In the 1938 Ft. Smith City Directory Percy is a porter. Percy enlisted in the US Army February 23, 1942. He states he had finished 2 years of high school. He served until December 18, 1945. Nothing more has been found about his service. Percy Bluford passed away on Sep 9, 1993 in Contra Costa California. His death certificate says his mother's maiden name was Perdue.
