Velma Jean Barton was born April 11, 1925 in Dayton, Sebastian Co., Ar. to Reuben & Nancy Ethel Presson Barton. June 7, 1947 Velma married Jack Gaylen Quick, Sr. at San Antonio, Texas. He was also in the military at that time but never had a residence in Sebastian Co., Ar.. Velma enlisted in the Womens Army Corps April 30, 1945 at Camp Chaffee, Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Ar. She states on her enlistment that she had completed 4 years of high school and her civil occupation was "Stenographers and typists." She achieved the rank of SSgt in the US Air Forces. Velma Jean Barton Quick passed away at Lamar, Barton County, Missouri May 22, 2013. Her burial was in Forest Grove Cemetery, Lamar, Barton Co., Mo.
