Dayton Autry was born October 13, 1924 in South Frot
Smith, Sebastian Co., Arkansas to
Daughery Vantus & Lillie Jane Blythe Autry.
January 19, 1947 he married Peggy Lou Schiegel in Van
Buren, Crawford Co.,Ar.
Dayton registered for the miitary draft December 22, 1942 at
Fort Smith, Arkansas.
He enlisted in the US Army July 2, 1943 and served until
January 19, 1946 with the 41st Infantry.
Dayton passed away December 2, 1989 in Fort Smith,
Sebastian Co., Ar. His burial was in Steep Hill Cemetery
in South Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Ar.

Dayton Autry, 65, of Van Buren died Saturday, December 2, 1989 in a Fort Smith hospital.
He had retired as the first director of the Van Buren Boys Club, was a member of the 41st
Infantry in the Army, He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War,
( Korean War did not begin until June 1950....my note.} and was a member of
First Baptist Church, the Disabled American Veterans and the American Legion.
He was survived by his wife Peggy; his son, Gary of Van Buren; his sister, Pauline Ernest of El Paso, Texas; his brother, L.D. of Cherry Valley, California; and two granddaughters.
Funeral services were held in Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Steephill Cemetery.
