He married Nora Hoss October 20, 1920 at Grayson, Texas. Rufus registered for the military draft June 6, 1917 in Sulphur Township, Sebastian Co., Ar. He served in France Nov 29, 1918 until May 21, 1919 with the rank of Pfc. with the 114 Engineers, 39 Div. Rufus passed away January 5, 1937 at Charleston, Franklin Co., Ar. He burial was in Steep Hill Cemetery in Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Ar.
