Pfc Donald Louis Jones was born Aug 30, 1932 to Louis L. and Johnie Alma Black
Jones in Sebastian Co. Ar. Donald was living in Sebastian, AR when he enlisted
and was a member of the 27th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division.
His military occupation or specialty was Light Weapons Infantryman. Service number assignment
was 18281734. Attached to 27th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division.
Pfc Jones was Killed in Action while fighting the enemy in South Korea on
September 2, 1950 in The Battle of Pusan Perimeter, a large-scale battle between
United Nations and North Korean forces lasting from August 4 to September 18, 1950.
The "Pusan Perimeter", was a 140-mile defensive line around the southeastern tip of
the Korean Peninsula. It was one of the first major engagements of the Korean War.
An army of 140,000 UN troops, mostly US, having been pushed to the brink of defeat,
were rallied to make a final stand against the invading North Korean army of 98,000 men.
At the end of the battle, each side had over 60,000 casualties of those killed, wounded
or captured.
He was awarded the Purple Heart for his service and personal sacrifice.
