Charles Nelson Decker was born November 6, 1934 in Barling, Sebastian Co., Ar. to Charles "Charley" & Lillian Irene Smith Decker. He married Dorothy Nadine Williams about October 28, 1943. His residence was Central City, Sebastian Co., Ar. and hers was Arkoma, Oklahoma.

Charles enlisted in the US Marine Corps July 7, 1953 and served until September 21, 1954. Nothing more is known about his service.

Charles passed away July 19, 2000 in Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Ar. His burial was in Tate Cemetery, Franklin Co., Ar.

Charles Nelson Decker Sr., 65, of Lavaca died Wednesday, July 19, 2000, in a Fort Smith hospital. He retired as a heavy equipment operator for Sebastian County and was a Marine veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Enterprise Free Will Baptist Church.

Funeral was in Smith Mortuary Chapel of Charleston with burial at Tate Cemetery, northwest of Charleston.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; seven daughters, Theresa Shropshire and Vanessa Carr, both of Fort Smith, Wanda Cowart of Van Buren, Rose Williams and Charlene Smoot, both of Muldrow, Sharon Morris of Lavaca and Karon White of Hackett; two sons, Charles Decker Jr. of Van Buren and Harold Lovell of Pocola; his mother, Irene Clinard of Central City; two sisters, Pat Friedline of Cabot and Doris Neihouse of Central City; two brothers, Fred and Connie Clinard, both of Central City; 20 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Benjamin Sharum, Steven Shotzman, James Lewis Jr., Joe Lewis, Donald Cook and Russell Sharpe.
