Appeal of Brownscombe Memorial Church
Fort Smith, Ark

Dear Brethren - The cyclone damaged Brownscombe heavily. Our members shared the common lot, many losing their all, and the community, burdened with the bereaved, homeless, and helpless, can give us no aid. After sacrifices and struggles, when success was in sight (membership, Sunday-school, and other work having doubled in 1897), we are brought to face conditions beyond our power. When we have done all that we can do,, it will cost $1,000 to so repair our building (cost, $13,000) as to preserve it. We can not do it unaided. Will not the church come to the rescue of this enterprise, so important not only because it is the only Methodist Episcopal Church here, but because it is the key to our work in this part of the country? remittances may be made to J. H. CLENDENING, treasurer. Fort Smith, Ark. By order of Official Board G. W. HARDWAY Secretary. FRANK COLE, Pastor A. J. TAYLOR, Presiding Elder
