Dr. Bernard Silas Seybert
Dr. Bernard S. Seybert was born abut 1845 in Missouri to Silas Engle
and Mary Ann Jones Seybert. Mary Ann died before 1860,
probably in Missouri as that is where all of her children were born and where
Silas E. Seybert, widower, is in 1860. The youngest child, Samuel was 2 years old
in 1860 and the oldest, Bernard, was age 14.
In 1870 Bernard is found in Monteva, Vernon, Missouri. He and his wife
Alice, age 22 have a child, John B. age 6 months.
May 4, 1876 Bernard S. Seybert was appointed postmaster in Montrose,
Sebastian, Arkansas.
In 1880 Bernard, wife Alice Winn Gatewood Seybert, and
family are living in Big Creek Sebastian County Arkansas. Bernard is
listed as a physician and they have 3 children, Gertrude age 8 born
in Missouri, Claud age 6 born in Missouri and Clyde born in
April of 1880 in Arkansas. Bernard's parents are listed as having
been born in Pennsylvania and Kentucky.
May 6, 1888 Dr. Bernard Silas Seybert died and was buried in Forest Park
Cemetery in Fort Smith, Arkansas. The children of Bernard and Alice
were Claude Worth, Gertrude Vest, Clyde F and Clarence H. B. Seybert.
Alice Winn Gatewood Seybert the daughter of George and
Alice Gatewood, was born in 1846. After the death of Dr. Seybert
in 1888, widow Alice W. Gatewood Seybert married Dan C. Crampton
about 1890. Dan and Alice Crampton are living in 1900 at Canon City,
Fremont, Colorado. Living with them are Claude and Clarence Seybert from her first marriage
to Dr. Seybert. Alice died March 23, 1918. She is buried at
Forest Park Cemetery, Fort Smith, Sebastian County, Arkansas.
