Dr. Frank Stanley Alexander

(Physicians and Medicine in Crawford and Sebastian Counties, Ark. 1817-1976 by Amelia Martin) Dr. Frank Stanley Alexander is listed in the 1942 American Medical Register as practicing in Hartford, Arkansas. He was born in 1871 and was licensed to practice in Arkansas in 1903. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ There is a curious note attached to Dr. Alexander's name on Ancestry on the 1920 census record by a descendent of his. It says "Wallace Lower is his name rather than Frank S Alexander. He was grandfather on my father's side (no one living knows why he did this, but Alexander was an alias". There is no mention of this anywhere else. Below the following records there is a newspaper obit for his father John B. Lower if he was Wallace Lower. It does have some curious things in it also. In 1880 he is living with his family in Columbia City, Whitley, Indiana. The parents are John B. Lower born in Ohio about 1844 with wife Julia Age 33 b. Ohio and children all born in Indiana, Bayliss Lower age 13 Viola Lower age 11, Wallace Lower age 9 Alle? Lower age 7, Joseph Lower age 2 and Marie Lower 3 mos. There is a marriage record for a Frank Alexander age 33 b 1871 and Annie Gardner age 21 Perry Ark. With the marriage Dec 28, 1904. 1900 census Madison, Tipton, Indiana Frank Alexander is 28 married for 9yr. born Indiana. father born in Ohio, and mother born in Ireland. Frank is a farmer Mary and parents were all b in Indiana. They have 2 children Ralph b 1894 age 5 and Lydia age 1mo. Both born in Indiana 1910 census record for what appears to be this same family in Negro Hill, White County, Arkansas. The birth places are the exact same to census in Hartford, Arkansas and Frank is a physician. There is one child Otto. He is 3 years old. Annie and Frank say they have been married 1 time and have been married 6 years. They have had 2 children but only 1 living. 1920 census Hartford, Sebastian Co., Arkansas Frank Alexander age 49 born Indianna as were his parents. Annie, wife age 35 born Illnois and parents both born Germany. Son Otto is 12 and Jolius M., a son age 2y 7m, both in Arkansas and daughter Mary. On the 1930 census for Hartford, Sebastian County, Arkansas there is Frank S. Alexander, physician, who says he was born about 1871 (age 59) in Indiana and his father was born in Ohio and his mother in Germany. The wife Annie is age 47 born in Indiana and her parents were both born in Germany, and the children of Frank and Annie, both age 12, were born in Arkansas. On the 1940 census Doctor F. S. Alexander age 69 born in Indiana, wife Annie age 56 born Illinois and children, Otto age 33, John age 22 and Mary age 22 all born in Ark. Find A Grave - Dr Frank S. Alexander b. Katie born Aug 1849 age 50, 10 children, 6 living Katie was born in Germany as were her parents.
