ANDREW JOHNSON WOMACK

The photograph above was reproduced from an old tintype found in a small photo album belonging to my husband's grandfather, Charley Edwards. Andrew Johnson Womack, called "Jonce" by the family, was born 30 April 1857 in Missouri and died 7 January 1939 in Hitchita, McIntosh County, Oklahoma. He was married about 1881 to Emily Jane "Emma" House, who was born 13 March 1862 and died 24 January 1938. Both Jonce and Emma are buried at the Lackey Cemetery in McIntosh County.

Andrew was the son of James Wiley Womack (born c1831 TN and died March 1860 Scott Co., AR) and Hannah Kilburn (born c1831 Lawrence Co, TN and died 1863 Scott Co, AR) Since both his parents died when Andrew was quite young, he is found on the Scott Co census records living with various family members. Information on his children was provided by his great-granddaughter, Karen Wamack Sanchez:

1. Unnamed son, born and died 1 September 1882, buried at Dooley Cemetery, Scott Co.

2. Andrew Richard Womack, born 11 July 1885 at Boles, Scott Co. and died 12 December 1901, buried at Buffalo Cemetery, Boles.

3. Pearl Sarah Womack, born 29 July 1887 at Boles and died in California. She married George Haslett.

4. Pinkney Harrison Womack, born 29 September 1889 at Boles; died 3 September 1893, buried at Parks Cemetery at Parks, Scott Co.

5. Mae Womack, born 17 April 1893 and died at Okmulgee, Oklahoma. She married Mac Parker.

6. Fly Tice Womack, born 22 December 1894 at Boles and died 12 April 1978 at Henryetta, Oklahoma. She never married.

7. Doyle Womack, born 17 September 1900 at Boles and died 18 May 1985 at Henryetta, Oklahoma. He married 1) Frances Rosella Cates; 2) Grace Shay and 3) Iva.

8. Dorothy Franklin Womack, born 3 December 1902 at Boles and died 17 March 1984 at Gray Court, South Carolina. He married Ray Sue Crisp. He is the grandfather of Karen, who provided information on this family.

The name Womack/Wamack is found spelled both ways in Scott County records. The photograph above belongs to Carolyn Hanna. The information provided above is all I know of this family. Andrew's mother Hannah Kilburn was a sister to my husband's great-grandmother, Demanda Kilburn Newborn.
