Articles of Faith
The Missionary Baptist Church of Christ at Union Hope
We believe there is one and only one living and true God Jehovah and that in the unity
of the God head there are three persons, the father, son and Holy Spirit. We believe
that the Scriptures of the Old and New Testament are the inspired Word of God constituting
[the only] and all sufficient standard of faith, doctrine, discipline and practice. We
believe that Election is the sovereign exercise of that Eternal Love by which God hath
according to his infinite wisdom chosen his people in Christ before the World was and
hath predestinated them unto the adoption of children through Sanctification of the
Spirit and belief of the truth and doth keep them by his power through faith unto
Salvation. We believe that man was created holy but by a willful violation of the
law of his Maker he fell into a State of Sinfulness and brought death upon his race
who being by nature decent in the unholy image of Adam are children of wrath by nature
and without natural spiritual power to live a happy life as attain to a happy state. We
believe that sinners are saved by grace Through faith in Jesus Christ and in no other way.
We believe that in order to be saved sinners must be regenerated or borned again, that
regeneration is effected by the power of the holy Spirit in connection with divine
truth and the proper evidences thereof are repentance, faith and obedience unto Christ.
We believe that such only are true believers as endure unto the end in holiness of life
and they will keep by the power of God through faith [torn] salvation. We believe the
Scriptures, sacred duties and also unsurpassable grace wrought in our souls by the
regenerating Spirit of God a Christian Church is a congregation of immersed believers
who meet statedly and have covenanted together to maintain the ordinance of Christian
Charity, the duties and enjoy the privileges in the testiment appertaining to the Church
of Jesus Christ the only proper officers of a Christian Church, Bishops or pastors and
Deacons.
Christian Baptism is the immersion of a believer in the name of the Father, Son and
Holy Spirit by a regularly ordained Baptist minister in good order.
The Lords Supper is a positive and Commemorative ordinance of Jesus Christ to be
observed in the Church as such in remembrance of Christ and to show forth his death
till he comes.
The first day of the week is the Lords Day and should be observed as a Day of rest
from common labor and all Worldly business and devoted to religious duties. We believe
in the resurrection of the Dead and a Judgment and that the felicity of the righteous
and the punishment of wicked will be eternal.

Church Covenant of the Missionary Baptist Church of Union Hope
Having been led as we believe by the Spirit of God to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as
our savior and on the profession of our faith. Having been baptized in the name of the
father and of the son and of the holy ghost we do now in the presence of God, angels
and this assembly most solemnly and Prayerfully enter into covenant with one another
as one body in Christ.
We engage therefore by the aid of the holy spirit to walk together in Christian Love
to strive for the advancement of this Church in knowledge, holiness and comfort to
promote its prosperity and spirituality to sustain its worship, ordinances, discipline
and Doctrines, to contribute cheerfully and Regularly to the support of the ministry,
the expenses of the church, the Relief of the poor and the spread of the Gospel through
the nations.
We also engage to maintain family and Secret Devotion, to religiously educate our
children, to seek the salvation of our kindred and acquaintances, to walk circumspectly
in the World, to be just in our Dealings, faithful in our engagements and exemplary in
our Deportment, to avoid all tattling, backbiting and excessive anger, to abstain from
the sale and use of intoxicating Drink as a beverage and to be zealous in our efforts
to advance the kingdom of our Saviour. We further engage to watch over one another in
brotherly Love, to remember each other in prayer, to aid each other in sickness and
