50TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY

Mr. and Mrs. Elmo Sims hold a bible they bought the first year they were married, in 1918. It and a sewing machine are the two items they've kept these 50 years. The former Heavener residents observed their Golden Wedding Anniversary last Saturday in their Waldron home. Married at Coaldale by Rev. John Ray, the couple lived in Heavener where Elmo worked for the KCS, was a mail carrier, did carpentry and contract work. Children of the couple include Hershal Sims, mayor of Waldron, Vera Blackwell of Barnsdall, Gracie Crownover of Heavener, Lloyd Sims of Heavener, Patsy Elder of Heavener, and Glenda Elder of Muskogee. Elmo's formula for 50 years of marriage is "love." He also advises for a happy family life--take your children to Church and Sunday School rather than sending them.
